What follows is the text of petition I initiated and signed on www.Change.org, directed to Google, asking Google to resume the online service of the Google字典:

The former online English-Chinese dictionary by Google, Google字典, accessible to Mandarin-speaking Chinese population is exceptionally valuable to nearly all Mandarin-speaking Chinese students and college graduates who love to learn English.

The online dictionary was removed from the website in the summer of 2011 but no other online English dictionaries are able to deliver information on the English words in the same format as Google used.  Your English-Chinese dictionary gives information that other online dictionaries fail to provide, such as sentence construction patterns which are especially helpful to the Chinese students..

I’ve been teaching English at NTU College of Medicine in Taipei, Taiwan for years and have found the Google 字典indispensable.  All of my students love using it and we would petition Google to resume the service on the website at your earliest convenience.!!!
