三國演義 in English
許松勇
Near the end of the Han dynasty, around 200 A.D., the empire starts crumbling into 3 states. Some 1,100 years later, a Chinese writer, 羅貫中, tells the story in a novel 三國演義. In 1994, its English translation, by Moss Roberts Professor of Chinese at NYU, was published by the Univ. of California at Berkeley and Los Angeles/Foreign Languages Press, Beijing. The English text is full of actions, tricks and warfare schemes in short, concise and forceful sentences. I fall in love with it at the first sight and I bet you would too. I plan to give 2 lectures on the translation text to my NTU Medical English class, spring semester 2012. (also posted on my Facebook page)
